Our static photo websites have two major benefits, they are fast and secure. A fast-loading page creates a better experience for the user particularly on mobile. Therefore static pages with responsive images are a great choice for photo galleries.
YouDoPhoto includes a number of tools to help you with this process. The focus of YouDoPhoto is to simplify the creation and publication of large image gallery websites with themes created by professional designers to enhance the look and feel of your site.
When the images are imported each image is assigned to a default category which is the year and month the image was created. This provides a quick and easy means of navigation. In addition 3 categories are created for people, places and occasions. An image can be assigned to multiple categories.
Browse each imported folder using the thumbnail viewer to select one or more images to publish to the website. Each published image is included when you create pages for every category. An image can be marked as unpublished and it will not be included when the site is built.
An image is selected by right clicking to add to the current selection. The current selection can then be published. Use the drop-down menu on the import or edit tabs to display published or unpublished images for a library folder or category.
Create pages for all published images in a selected category or all categories to generate an HTML page including the image. Each page consists of the image plus content which can be used to describe the image. Similarly pages can be further organised into additional categories. For example you can allocate pages including "grandad" into a grandad category and the image will appear under the grandad photos link or within the default year and month category. In addition tags can be added to every page to further improve the navigation..
Creating pages reads the original image file and generates for new webP formatted images at the predefined responsive image sizes for the template. The original image is not included in the website. The new pages appear on the right-hand side using the file name of the image as the title for the page. To edit the content and add a description for the image use the left-hand menu and navigate to the pages section.
In our Light Gallery example site we have imported 23 images dated September 2021. The default year and month categories were automatically created. To customise the gallery use drag-and-drop to allocate the images into additional categories. Right click to select an image(s) and drag and drop to the category of your choice. In our example we are dragging into the occasions category. The same image will now appear on two different pages in the website, the original month and the new occasions category.
